My yoga instructor @graciejane1234 sent this to me My yoga instructor @graciejane1234 sent this to me today. And it was the perfect way to describe this period in my life. Today was tough. I was still having trouble breathing four weeks out from surgery. They did cut two fist sized holes in my diaphragm but it should of been getting better and it was getting worse. So we did a chest X-ray and sure enough I had a pleural effusion. Basically once we took the chest tubes out after surgery, my body didn’t absorb the rest of the fluid from the inflammation in my body. So I had to get a liter of fluid tapped off my left lung today. Not the most pleasant experience. 😞 The ribs are SO sensitive and have SO many nerves around them. I was supposed to start chemo tomorrow but have decided to wait another week or so to allow my body to heal. My point in sharing all of this is we all have bad days. We all have sh#t we go through and have to deal with. Some days just getting out of bed and taking a shower is a big day. Some days we do yoga, take a walk and feel like a rockstar. This is life. Especially as a cancer patient. The ups and downs are scary and painful. But they also make us appreciate the times when we do feel good. So listen to your body. Be proud of what you’ve been through and how well your doing on the good days 💪 Celebrate the small victories. Even if they’re just a walk to the end of the driveway and back with the doggies 💙 Better days are coming. Love to all of you out there fighting. Never give up. #sherrystrong #ovariancancer #ovariancancerawareness #mindbodyconnection #positiveaffirmations
Yesterday I was treated at my clinic for the first Yesterday I was treated at my clinic for the first time. 😭 I’m not going to lie, I had a moment while I laid there thinking, how incredible is this?! That I am alive to be treated in a clinic that is named after me. 🙏💙 Most ppl don’t get to see the legacy they leave behind in this world. I feel so lucky I get to witness the impact we are making with cancer patients that need us so badly right now. Myofascial release is a type of physical therapy that’s used to treat myofascial pain in the body. Chronic pain caused by sensitivity and tightness in your myofascial tissue. Amber was amazing and gentle and made me feel so comfortable. The human body’s ability to heal is AMAZING! But it needs our love and support. Dietary changes, supplements, physical therapy, movement, yoga, art therapy, massage are all things you can do to help support your body. And they are all offered at the #SherryStrong Integrative Medicine Oncology Clinic. And for that I am so so grateful. 🙏💙🙌 #thatviewtho #charlotte #sherrystrong #integrativemedicine #movementismedicine @novanthealth @novanthealthfoundation
