Sherry Pollex

Sherry Pollex became a champion for survivors of cancer when she and longtime boyfriend and NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Martin Truex Jr. established the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation. At 35, Sherry was diagnosed with stage three ovarian cancer and doctors estimated that her chance of survival was less than 30% within 5 years. She underwent a radical hysterectomy, debulking surgery and 17 months of chemotherapy. For her 37th birthday, she launched SherryStrong.org to empower women to know their bodies, recognize the symptoms of ovarian cancer and learn how integrative and holistic practices may complement conventional medicine.

Family...the core of who we are. 💙 The people Family...the core of who we are. 💙 The people in your life that are there for you no matter what the circumstances are. Being diagnosed with cancer is hard enough emotionally and physically. I often wonder about the people fighting this disease that have no support system. I just want to hold them and let them know someone cares. My family has been by my side since day one. We’ve cried countless times. Laughed just as many. Had dance parties. Played games. Done puzzles. Rolled through the hospital hallways on my IV pole 😂 they’ve cooked me countless meals. Come over everyday to keep me company when I couldn’t get off the couch. Done my laundry. Did my dishes. Taken care of the dogs. I seriously don’t know what I’d do without them. They aren’t all pictured here but my brother and sister have never left my side. They’ve been there every step of the way. I feel so lucky to have them in my life. We’ve shared so many memories that no one else can relate too. The bond I have with them is like no other. So hug your loved ones today. Be grateful for the people in your life that are there for you in the good times and bad. To Jay and Jill, you are the heart and soul of who I am, I can’t imagine my life without you two in it. I am forever grateful for the bond that we share. 💙🙏 (P.S. you can get our super comfy #SherryStrong sweatshirts at the link in bio. 100% of the proceeds go to help women fighting #ovariancancer) #familyiseverything #makingmemories #ovariancancer
